Nylon Monofilament Non-Absorbable Suture
Monomid® is a non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of the long-chain aliphatic polymers nylon type 6 or nylon type 6/6. Monofilament nylon suture may be either dyed black (logwood), dyed blue (FD&C Blue No.2) or white (undyed).
• Uniform diameter of the suture
• Maximum flexibility of the strand
• Excellent and consistent knot security
• Minimal memory
As with any nylon suture, though not absorbed, progressive hydrolysis of the suture in vivo may result in gradual loss of tensile strength over time. Nylon suture should not be used where permanent retention of tensile strength is required.
Black, Blue or Undyed
Monomid® is available in various USP sizes.
Monomid® is supplied in a wide range of lengths affixed to a diverse assortment of needle types in one dozen boxes, or in veterinary suture cassettes. Three dozen suture boxes available on customer request.
