Braided Polyblend Nonabsorbable

Polyblend is a braided, nonabsorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of polyester and polyethylene braid. It is prepared from fibers of high molecular weight, long-chain linear polyester.

Characteristics
CP-Fiber exhibits:
  • Excellent strength: 15 times stronger than steel on a weighted basis, 10 times the abrasion resistance compared to polyester, and stronger than polyester size for size
  • Cushioned Polyester core designed for enhanced knot security
Indications
Polyblend sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures.

Actions
Polyblend sutures elicit a minimal inflammatory reaction in tissues, followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. Polyblend suture is not absorbed, nor is any significant change in tensile strength retention known to occur in vivo.

Sterilization
Ethylene oxide.

Packaging
Polyblend suture is available in (USP) sizes 7-0 through 5 (metric sizes 0.5-7). Braided Polyblend suture is nonabsorbable, sterile, undyed (white) or dyed (D&C Blue No. 6) and is supplied sterile in pre-cut lengths or ligating reels; both non-needled and affixed to various needle types; including removable needles; in one- to three-dozen boxes and ligating reels.
