Monofilament Stainless Steel Nonabsorbable

Stainless steel suture is composed of 316L stainless steel conforming to ASTM Standard F138 Grade 2 stainless steel bar and wire for surgical implants.

Characteristics
Stainless steel suture meets all requirements established by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and European Pharmacopeia (EP) for nonabsorbable surgical sutures.

Indications
Stainless steel suture is the most inert among all suture materials and provides maximum tensile strength.

Actions
Stainless steel suture is indicated for use in abdominal wound closure, intestinal anastomosis, hernia repair, sternal closure, and certain orthopedic procedures (cerclage or tendon repair).

Tensile Strength
Stainless steel suture elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue and is not absorbed.

Sterilization
Ethylene oxide or gamma irradiation.

Packaging
Stainless Steel suture is a monofilament strand. It is available in sizes 6-0 through 7 (metric sizes 0.7-9). The suture is supplied sterile in precut lengths attached to various needle types in one- to three-dozen boxes, or non-needled on ligating reels.
