Shipping Clerk


Fills and ships product orders to CP Medical customers by counting, wrapping and packing orders and completing the necessary paperwork.  May also pick products from shelves to fill orders.  


  • Fills customer requests by processing shipments generated using the Sage X-3 database (ERP system).  Picks items from the “Pick Sheet’” from warehouse shelves making sure product label, quantity, lot number and expiration date meet the customer’s/company requirements.  
  • Assists in the preparation of sterilization shipments by properly staging products for shipment to the sterilization vendor.
  • Follows current, written applicable Quality System (QS) Work Instructions to the letter.
  • Assists in order pulling by picking products from shelves or hold area according to customer requirements.  May receive pulled product from order puller or packaging team.
  • Completes order verification process prior to packing boxes.  Shipping clerks cross check one another’s orders and sign off on each line item of the pick sheet.  
  • Packs products according to product shipping requirements (uses appropriate packing materials and boxes) according to product and customer specifications.  
  • Properly seals outside of box for shipping and includes the customer name, purchase order number on the outside of the box.  Stages the box in the holding area to await shipping.
  • Contributes to meeting and exceeding accuracy, efficiency and on-time delivery standards and goals.
  • Maintains a safe work area by following company and department safety rules, including keeping a clean and organized work area.  Follows all standard operating procedures.  Performs routine maintenance work such as breaking down cardboard, picking up loose trash and debris and putting materials back in their proper place.
  • Assists in training new employees and cross-training other employees to ensure there is no disruption in customer service.  


REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor



  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred, coupled with one to three months’ related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Six months to one year or more related experience and/or training (preferred) Forklift driving skills and certification, highly preferred.


  • Ability to read, understand and follow prescribed instructions that have been written in basic business English is required.  
  • Checking skills (the ability to ensure there is a match between the items produced and the order) and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to count is needed.  
  • Ability to follow the guidance of others using well-established methods and instructions.
  • Good organizational skills and detail orientation is needed for managing paperwork and forms.
  • Great attention to detail in both outgoing and incoming functions.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operation (navigation) is needed.  Employees will be trained in the use of Sage X3 and Starship software to perform shipping tasks.
  • Requires legible handwriting.
  • Requires a high degree of person and verbal interaction with other departments and personnel.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and managers at all levels both verbally, in writing and via electronic methods.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Excellent work habits such as proven dependability and taking responsibility and following through, required.

  • Learning – ability to learn and follow directions
  • Ability to adhere to company attendance standards.
  • Ability to work overtime as workload dictates.


  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions inside in a warehouse environment where light manufacturing is performed; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.  Physical demands of this position require this person to have the ability to stand for extended periods, and constantly use hands and fingers.
  • Occasionally sit, walk, and reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel and crouch, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to climb and descend ladders while carrying boxes.
  • Specific vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to concentrate, with mental and visual attention, while performing tasks to accurate standards, for sustained periods of time.
